AESS 2016 Annual Conference: Save the Date!

We are delighted to set the stage for the AESS 2016 Annual Conference at American University. Whether feedback from participants and speakers, or from staff and board members, by all measures the 2015 AESS Conference at UC San Diego was a rousing success. And we are looking to continue the momentum with a 2016 conference theme of

Science, Empathy, Collaboration, and Sustainability

We are especially pleased to announce that Heather Heckel has taken the baton to be the 2016 AESS Conference On-Site Coordinator. Heather is an assistant professor of Sustainable Development at American University in the School of Professional and Extended Studies. She is also Director of a small sustainable development NGO called Engage Globally. Welcome, Heather!

Further conference details will be made available throughout the early fall. Please do look for the call for proposals by mid-October with registration to open in the early spring.

To begin helping us plan for next year, please do save the date for American University conference, June 8-11, 2016. We will have more details that follow through the full AESS Listserv and AESS Member emails in the next several weeks.

In the meantime, if you have specific suggestions, ranging from ways to include greater participation from those colleges and universities who are on the quarter system, and who may be constrained by the 2016 dates more generally, to ideas which ensure a more interactive conference agenda — please notify us at your earliest convenience.

You can directly contact either AESS President John A. “Skip” Laitner at aesspresident1@gmail.com OR Carolyn Anthon, AESS Program Coordinator at canthon@ncseonline.org.

We look forward to hearing from you and to working with you!
